Once I noticed what you noticed I started to do some basic inspections of my islands econ and saw this trend. With the current game instead it would appear that the devs want to force you down the road of taking as much of your raw goods as possible and using industry to sell them as finished goods. However as I and others have talked about on other posts currently the game's tourism economics are a little underwhelming. Another fix would be to make tourism more profitable so that you could stay very basic industrially and instead make money from tourism.

My theory is that, and this is part of the issue I've had with the Tropico series forever now, there is no true sandbox game. So if you setup the perfect little island and are making money by selling basic crops, ores, and the very basic processed goods (Leather, Rum, and Planks) as time goes on you will eventually only break even and then eventually lose money over time. At which point your 1 Gold with no trade deal sold as an export will only now get you $9.00. And you continue to make that much on gold until the 1950's. To put numbers on my example let us just say that in the 1940's 1 Gold with no trade deal sold as an export will get you $10.00. It will then use whatever functions it also has based on difficulty level, trade deals, and so on to finally give you the actual cash into your bank. This matters because T6's econ model has a table, that likely interacts with a set of mathematical functions that are tied to other dynamic gameplay factors, that will tell the game what to buy/sell something (1 Sugar, 1 Car, 1 Gold, etc) for at a given point in time.įor example in the 1940's the game will look at the table for how much 1 Gold should sell as an export for. You may notice that while you are not given a date while you are still under the crown's mandate, the longer you take under the crown the later in time you exit into World Wars.
